Meg | Fitness Shoot

Meg and I tried to connect on a couple of different occasions but weren’t able to make it happen.  As they say, the third time is a charm.  She finally stepped in front of my lens fresh off of the OCB Maine Event stage back in September (has it really been that long?!). This was another shoot over at Impact Fitness Center in Biddeford but this one is a little different as you’ll probably notice.  I pushed the editing a little farther than normal for these, playing off of Meg and her personality/passions.  I can check the Samurai sword off of my bucket list now, I guess.

Thanks for working with me Meg.  I look forward to seeing you on stage again in the coming season!

Noah | Thornton Academy Class of 2019 | Senior Photos

I recently made the trip out to Fort Williams Park to get some shots of Noah over at Portland Head Light.  It was a beautiful night and the crowd actually wasn’t too bad, luckily.  It’s a great spot for these shoots and no matter how many times I go back, I still manage to find different spots for shooting.  We were able to squeeze the Jeep shot in just before they kicked us out of the park.  Here are some of my favorites from the shoot.  Enjoy!

Seth | Thornton Academy Class of 2019 | Senior Photos

I spent a bright Sunday morning with Seth and his mom a few weeks ago.  We took over his grandparents yard and made use of their gardens and pond until I basically ran out of ideas.  It turned out to be a great location and although Seth was a little anxious about the shoot, he did great!  Here are some of my favorites from the shoot:

Ean | Thornton Academy Class of 2019 | Senior Photos

I recently had the pleasure of working with the Patry family again.  This time around it was Eans turn for senior photos.  We decided to try a different location than what has become the norm in recent years.  We ended up at both Bug Light and Spring Point Ledge Light which turned out to be a great area for photos.  Unlike Portland Head Light, we weren’t kicked off of the property before sunset which was nice.  Ean was my first senior for the season and I look forward to working with a few more of you. Here are some of my favorites from the shoot:

Carly | Fitnes Shoot

Let me start off by saying that Carly was an absolute trooper for even partaking in this shoot.  You see, she developed some severe leg pain while on stage, competing at the Pine Tree State event.  She had taken advantage of the show special and booked a shoot the following day.  She could have easily canceled the shoot but she showed up on time and explained what she thought to be a sciatic nerve issue.  She wasn’t very mobile at this point.

We made due and basically confined the shoot to one small area of Impact Fitness Center, also trying to keep in mind what she was capable of under the circumstances.

Once we wrapped up, Carly then went on to brunch and eventually made her way back down to CT.  In the meantime, her leg had swelled to 3x it’s normal size.  Well, it turns out that she had a severe blood clot going from her hip all the way down to her knee.  The entire length of the vein had been blocked and required two surgeries and two blood transfusions.

After a month of recovery, I’m happy to report that she is doing well and finally starting to hit the gym once again.  Best of luck to you Carly!

Practical Pyhsiques | Team Fitness Shoot

Competitive bodybuilding is seldom thought of as a team sport.  It’s generally you putting your best self on stage and trying to be better than the version that you brought to the stage previously.  Yes, there are other competitors that you want to destroy, but it’s really about overcoming your own demons and reaching your goals.  I’ve been covering the Pine Tree State event for several years now and I couldn’t name more than just a few ‘teams’.  This one team though, this newly formed assembly of athletes wanting nothing but the best, sought out this new kid on the block.  He goes by the name of Derek Faulkner and this is his team…Practical Physiques.

Having spent a decent amount of time with these folks, I can tell you that the title of ‘team’ is very similar to what you would think of as any other team of athletes.  The comradery, friendships, brotherhood/sisterhood and sense of family is very evident.

I first met Derek when I shot him as a surprise gift from his wife Nikki, while prepping for his first event. These two are some of the best people in the sport.  Since then, I’ve watched him evolve his passion for knowledge and growth regarding the coaching of these folks via his social channels.  It was clear to me that he was building something special.  Once the show season got into full swing, that something special resulted into pretty much taking every stage by storm, with an impressive number of awards.  More importantly though are the friendships and accomplishments that have been made along the way.   I was honored to be asked to participate in a team shoot a while back.  These are some of my favorites from that shoot, which took place over at Impact Fitness Center in Biddeford.

Derek is very humble in his approach and will be the first to admit that he’s just along for the ride.  Truth is, whatever he’s doing, it’s working and working well.  Congrats to all of you on a very successful season!

Derek teamed up with Heather Mowry to bring the team the best in posing coaching as an added bonus.

Brianna | OCB Pro | Fitness Shoot

I had the privilege of working with Brianna several weeks back over at the Impact Fitness Center in Biddeford.  We shot these one week prior to her competing at the OCB Pine Tree Sate competition.  As you can see here, she was shredded and went on to win not only first place in the novice class and the open women’s physique class but also her procard!  She also became the first sponsored athlete for the Givestrength campaign, raising funds and awareness for those in need while doing so.  The last image is a stage shot from the Pine Tree event. Congrats Brianna!

She would love to give credit where credit is due:

Jacob | Thornton Academy Class of 2018 | Senior Photos

Jacob is third in a line of brothers that I’ve had the pleasure to photograph.  While they each chose the same location, Portland Head Light, they each brought their own sense of style and not one of them has disappointed.  I’ve tried my best to make each shoot different, which isn’t easy when working with the same area but I think we pulled it off.  You won’t be able to tell from the images, but we definitely got caught in a rain shower to end the shoot.  Here are some of my favorites from Fort Williams Park in Cape Elizabeth

Nick | Thornton Academy Class of 2018 | Senior Photos

Nick spends the bulk of his time on the water doing what he loves, lobstering.  The boat and traps pictured are his, over at the pier in Camp Ellis.  We spent some time there back when the weather was warmer and the mosquitos were heavy.  It was nice to be at the beach, shooting but not actually using the beach at all.  You just can’t deny the beauty of being on the water during sunrise or sunset!

Nathan | Thornton Academy Class of 2018 | Senior Photos

I recently got together with Nate and his mom Heidi for Nate’s senior shoot.  He chose to use the Biddeford-Saco Country Club as his backdrop since he’s on the golf team and it’s also his workplace.  He attained some carts for us to use for the shoot which made things so much easier than having to walk and lug gear around.  We were able to use a few different areas of the course to get some different looks.  This is my third time shooting portraits on the course.  I still don’t know my way around but I think I’m getting the hang of it.  Enjoy the set!

Jerry | Thornton Academy Class of 2018 | Senior Photos

I had the pleasure of spending some time with Jerry over at Fort Williams Park recently.  Jerry chose Portland Head Light as the location for his senior photos so we set off to grab some images prior to sunset.  The park is a great spot for senior photos and offers a variety of locations and looks.  I’ve yet to incorporate all of them.  We worked with the setting sun until the park employees pretty much booted us out of there.  I’m always bummed with the timing of the park closing since it’s always before the light has disappeared.  I hope you enjoy this set!

Victoria | Doing what she loves

So, for some unexplainable reason, I’ve been sitting on this set for nearly a year now.  I can’t really explain what has prevented me from throwing them up here since I’ve had them edited this whole time.  I ran a #7daysofvictoria series on Instagram way back when but never did anything past that.

The idea was to get this shoot in last winter during a snowfall.  That never worked out so we got it in just before spring while it was still cold enough to wear all of her gear.  It’s funny, we ended up in the woods on our last shoot as well.  You can view that here.  It’s quite obvious that Victoria is a huge fan of the outdoors so that only makes sense.  I look forward to these warmer weather shoots taking place again.

Nate | Thornton Academy | Class of 2017 | Senior Photos

Admittedly, I have several posts from last year that never went up for whatever reason.  Here is the first of those posts.  Nate is a TA student and part of the TA Golf team.  We spent some time over at the Biddeford Saco Country Club for his senior session.  His brother Matt came along for a few as well.  I can’t wait to get back to this weather again!

Justin | Thornton Academy | Class of 2017 | Senior Photos

This was my second shoot over at Fort Williams Park this season.  It’s kind of crazy how walking in a different direction over at Portland Headlight can have an effect on the setting of your images.  Either way, it’s a win, win situation with some great looks.  We pretty much shot until we got kicked out of the park which in my mind closes too soon if you’re trying to work around the setting sun.  Here are a few of my faves from the shoot with Justin.

Evan | Thornton Academy | Class of 2017 | Senior Photos

When you plan a shoot around sunset, it’s generally nice if the sun is actually present for said event.  Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case for the shoot with Evan.  So, we made do with what we had and faked it as much as possible.  We started the shoot over at his house and ended down the road at Bay View beach.  By the time we made it to the beach, the sun was just present enough to make a difference.  Here are some of my favorites from the shoot.

Owen | Biddeford High School | Class of 2017 | Senior Photos

Owen’s original date got rained out, strangely enough as we haven’t had much rain at all this season.  Our second try turned out to be a beautiful day though.  This was our first visit to Biddeford Pool this summer.  It’s still a great place for a mix of woods, beach and rocks!

Nic | Thornton Academy | Class of 2017 | Senior Photos

We recently made our way to the scenic Fort Williams Park for a senior shoot at Portland Headlight.  This was our first time there this season.  It happened to be the night of the Beach 2 Beacon so there were a few more obstacles than usual.

I’m always amazed at how many tourists don’t know what senior photos are.  Everyone always seems to assume that we are doing some sort of magazine shoot.  I should probably just start lying and say that we are!

Here are a few of my favorites from the shoot with Nic.  Enjoy!

Nick | Thornton Academy | Class of 2017 | Senior Photos

It’s not very often that I get up before sunrise, to tell you the truth but when I do it’s usually for good reason.  Nick wanted to have his senior photos taken at sunrise over at his favorite fishing hole, Camp Ellis.  That actually worked out great since parking wasn’t an issue and there weren’t any crowds to work around.  Shooting at sunrise is always a roll of the dice, not knowing if it will be a spectacular event or a bust.  Luckily for us it turned out great!

Kyle | Thornton Academy | Class of 2017 | Senior Photos

My senior season officially kicked off with Kyle, a Thornton Academy senior, last weekend.  We ended up shooting at one of his favorite places.  He lives fairly close to Cape Porpoise and spends quite a bit of time there.  Aside from parking, which can sometimes be an issue, it’s a great spot.  After we had tortured him long enough, his parents took him to The Ramp, a great restaurant located there.  You can see the entrance of it in some of the images.

Bethany | Thornton Academy | Class of 2016 | Senior Photos

“He only shoots males” they said.  “He’s good, but he specializes in male athletes” they said.  Heck, I was beginning to believe the rumors myself due to the lack of female inquiries.  Hopefully some of those rumors can now be laid to rest.

That said, I want to thank the Pare family for trusting CDP with the task of shooting Bethany for her class of 2016 senior shoot.  We had fun spending some time with Bethany and her sister on this cool November evening.  This was my final shoot for this senior season.  I hope it was worth the wait!  Here are a few of my favorites from the shoot.  Enjoy!

Walsh | Thornton Academy | Class of 2016 | Senior Photos

Walsh is the first person to come through and request his shoot to take place on the campus of Thornton Academy.  I thought that was a great idea since the grounds can make for some nice shots.  I’m surprised I don’t see more people doing it to be honest.  It was definitely a little on the cool side but Walsh stuck it out before heading down to NH for hockey practice.  Here are some of my favorites from out time with him.  Enjoy!

Jerry | Thornton Academy | Class of 2016 | Senior Photos

Jerry was insistent on shooting at Portland Head Light over in Fort Williams Park.  Having shot his brother, Josh almost a year ago, that was fine by me.  I really don’t get out there as much as I’d like so it gave me an excuse to get there.  I had warned him that we would likely hit the same spots as we did with his brother but try to give them a different look.  It turns out that wasn’t the case at all and we were able to give the shoot a very different look than what was achieved the year before.  Thanks for looking!

Emily | Old Orchard Beach | Class of 2016 | Senior Photos

I wasn’t sure the weather (sky) was going to pan out as hoped for this shoot with Emily.  All day the sky was perfect with some great clouds but when it came time to actually do the shoot it was looking pretty grey and dreary.  Much to my surprise though, it turned out to be a pretty amazing sunset.  Luckily we were able to take advantage of that.  These are some of my favorites from the shoot.  Enjoy!

Carter: Maine Event Fitness Shoot

The Carters were in town for the Maine Event competition over in Biddeford recently.  They made a weekend of it, coming down from Hancock and while in town wanted to do a shoot.  Impact Fitness Center (also in Biddeford) graciously hosted the shoot which worked out perfectly for everyone.  It was my pleasure to work with them and to see what can be accomplished in a home gym.  To find out more about Adam and his services offered, take a look at his site here. Thank you for looking and enjoy!
